Places I've Been: The Delancey

Planning for other people's birthday's is...sure something. It can be fun because yay, it's your friend's birthday! On the other hand, it can be stressful; what if they don't like it? When it came to planning my boyfriend's and his best friend's birthday (Their birthdays are 5 days apart...adorable, right?), I was stuck. It was their 25th...it had to be special!

My line of thinking: 25 is a bit old for a ratchet dance club. They need some place where they're able to talk to their friends, yet have a fun party atmosphere. The perfect place?

The Delancey : Lower East Side

Located on 168 Delancey Street in NYC, it's a fantastic place to be able to sit and just relax with your closest friends. I highly recommend getting a reservation a couple of days in advance if you're having a large group. I happened to get really lucky and have a group cancel.

We were lucky and got the rooftop area, which is enclosed, so you're able to use the room all year round! We went in April, so it was still pretty chilly at that point because the weather has been crazy, and I was wearing a light maxi-romper and felt perfectly fine.

If you feel like dancing, have no fear, there's a small dance floor downstairs! It's just small enough where you don't feel like you HAVE to dance, but it's big enough that you can just dance around if the feeling comes. I personally didn't, but my friends did and said the music selection was pretty decent.

ALSO! Big plus about this place. The music selection is pretty good...the best part? It's not so incredibly loud that you're deaf by the end of the night. I was actually able to listen to people speaking, and that was a detail that everyone loved about this place. The drinks are also really good and reasonably priced.

Overall, it's a wonderful place to have a birthday. Have a couple of other nearby places ready to go because this place does fill up quickly. Make a reservation!!!!
